art and film

Here is my latest portrait, finished today. For comparison, see the same model from a year ago:

And in some very exciting news, we have an actor attached to Michael's film project. We're still being cautious about posting the name on the Internet. Suffice it to say that he is a well-respected up-and-coming actor. Now we're trying to get an actress to play his mother.

I am glad to see a post from you. I guess you've been busy. I like your portraits. Glad that the film project is moving along, too.

I did the comparison. Really can see improvement (and I thought the first one was great!!)!

Good news about the actor. :)

Oh Ruth, I am no artist...they both look good to me. I think you captured him wonderfully even in the first portrait; certainly the face. But your body and the lines, shading and sculpting of the arms are so wonderful on this latest one. Congrats on the movie venture...it sounds like it is going well.

Wow, what a huge improvement. Congrats on finding the actor...I hope finding the actress is easier :-)

I like both of your drawings, but do agree with the others that this new drawing shows great improvement in skill. Wonderful!
That's exciting news about Michael's film.

I was thinking about u today. Glad to see a post. Drawing is awesome, and yes I do see the improvement.

How exciting about the actor! A big step for the film.

Take care, Ruth!

It's always good to see another post from you, Ruth. You're missed in blogland.

Your latest creation is so lifelike it looks almost like a photograph. Very well done!

Your assignment today is to read my last 5 posts. One of them, called "I love you, you love me, we're as happy as can be," is a sort of Social Studies test. I even left out the period after the S in Harry S Truman purposely, although Wikipedia includes it. What do they know?

I have a young friend who teaches film at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, who is also trying to raise funds for a film and getting commitments from actors. Small world....

That's a great drawing!

Good for Michael, with the film.

If he gets really stuck, I can play the mother. I'm SAG.
Ha!

Hope you are well,

The first thing I noticed was that he was naked in the first picture! I thought other people would say the same! I'd love to see them side-by-side. Your artistry is quite visible.

Good news on the film. Progress!!
